Privacy policy

The short version: we collect as little as possible, sell nothing, and tell you exactly how advertising cookies work and how to turn them off.

What we collect

  • Information you give us directly: your email address if you subscribe to the newsletter, and the contents of messages you send through the contact page.
  • Automatic, aggregate usage data: pages viewed, approximate reading time, device and browser type, and referring pages — used to understand which guides help people most.
  • We do not require accounts, and we do not collect sensitive personal data. Reading Mintmark anonymously is fully supported.

How we use it

Newsletter emails are used only to send the newsletter (every message includes a one-click unsubscribe). Contact messages are used only to respond. Aggregate analytics guide editorial decisions — we never build individual profiles.

Advertising and cookies

We display advertising served by third-party networks, including Google. These vendors use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites:

  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your browsing. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com).
  • You can opt out of many third-party vendors' personalized ads at aboutads.info/choices.
  • You can block or delete cookies entirely in your browser settings; the site remains fully readable either way.
  • Where required by law (EEA/UK/Switzerland), we request consent for personalized advertising before such cookies are set.

Analytics

We use privacy-conscious, aggregated analytics to count pageviews and reading patterns. Analytics data is retained in aggregate form and is never combined with your identity.

What we never do

  • Sell, rent, or trade your email address or personal information — to anyone, ever.
  • Share contact messages beyond the small editorial team that answers them.
  • Use your data for anything beyond operating, improving, and funding this publication as described here.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under GDPR and CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to opt out of its sale — note that we do not sell personal data, full stop. To exercise any of these, email desk@mintmark.club and we will respond within 30 days.

Data retention and security

Subscriber emails are retained until you unsubscribe; contact messages for up to 24 months; server logs for up to 90 days. Data is stored with reputable providers and access is limited to those who need it to operate the site.

Children

Mintmark is intended for a general adult audience and does not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes and a note appears on the homepage for 30 days. Questions: desk@mintmark.club.
